Hunting the wild Manticore Report

General Summary

Rutilix and Vormax stumbled upon a griffon attacking some horses while they were out on a hunt. After killing the two griffons, Rutilix was able to capture three of the four horses with relative ease, while the fourth horse reluctantly was tamed by Vormax after a bit of bucking. Once they boarded the horses at the castle, the party saw a Manticore fly over head. Remembering the 200 gp reward back at his home, Vormax lead the party back towards the direction of where they killed the griffons to find that their corpses had disappeared. Luckily, there had been a smear of blood left behind that ended up pointing in the right direction because the party stumbled upon a large pile of griffon, boar, horse, and deer carcusses. This pile was guarded though, by several poachers who were attempting to attract a manticore. The poachers were easily routed by our party, but the Manticores smelled the fresh human blood and dove into attack. The battle was tough, but our party was victorious and they claimed their two manticore heads. Hopefully soon they will be able to collect their reward.

Can be crafted (leatherworker’s tools) into a cloak that imposes advantage on Wisdom (animal handling) checks made to tame griffons and wyverns.) 2 Manticore Heads (200 gp each) 5 Manticore teeth (5 gp each) Manticore Tail Spikes (darts that deal 1d6 damage instead) 2 Griffon hearts (Can be consumed as an action to grant advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight for 1 hour. During this time, if the creature sees a horse, they must succeed on a DC 11 Wisdom saving throw or use their full movement and action to approach and attack the horse. On a success, the creature no longer has to make saving throws to prevent themselves from attacking that particular horse.) 12 Griffon Feathers (can be crafted into 2 arrows or a pen (see rules)
