The Exchange of Trust
When two people reach an agreement and a promise or deal is made there must be an exchange of something to ensure the bond is remembered and honored. This is a world wide tradition and is observed in most cases, though as of late contracts and bureaucracy have made this obsolete.
History
The tradition dates back to tribal traditions between clans, races and leaders. When peace was formed there was an exchange of goods or people, some times marrying each other's daughters to each other's sons.
Execution
The agreement is reached and the plantiff or petitioner will offer something of value as agreement, the defendant or aggressor will then offer something in kind. The exchange is made and the deal is struck.
Observance
The item that has been exchanged's use and display is up to the possessor, but it must stay in thier possession or else it may cause the other party to think the deal has been broken or the bond is not being honored.
There is nothing stopping them from breaking the deal or going back on thier word besides honor, the Exchange of Trust is symbolic. Should an item be returned to the owner, it is seen as a breaking of the deal or a threat.
