House Redgem

Perhaps one of the oldest houses in all of Alatria, Redgem's are shrewed politicians and merchants. They get there name from the ruby mines where they gathered their wealth in precious metals and gems. It was these that help forge the first Kingdom.
They are currently a non voting council house as their head of house, Lysander Redgem, is currently King. Houses that possess the crown cannot influence the council of Lords officially, though Redgem's are notorious for making deals and lining pockets to get what they want.

Structure

Current head of house is King Lysander, though his current stand in is a long time acting Head of House, Gorwalt Dunningshire who was elected to be head o house by King Caarathor after the death of the last acting head of house.

Public Agenda

Redgem has produced three kings to the throne in succession as the heretical monarchy suggest. Since they have not been able to sit on the Council in three generations of Kings they have spent their time producing business and banks across the Kingdom help those less fortunate manage and create wealth. They currently have designs on expanding to the newly acquired Midden.

Assets

Redgem controls 70% of the precious metals and mining markets in the Kingdom working hand in hand with the Dwarves to ensure no lines are crossed in the dealings. Collectively this house controls 40% of the wealth in Kingdom, either directly or via shell companies, making them an incredible financial power.

History

Before the Kingdom was founded House Redgem were miners. They would pay for protections in their controlled settlements, when the first King raised his armies, Redgem mercenaries were the first conscripts and they were rewarded as becoming official council members of the first council of Alatrion.
Since then they have helped built the fiancial infrastructure of the Kingdom and do so to this day. When King Fallas, born of House Tremark, died without an heir, it was Torwalt of Redgem who was crowned the next King by the council and his son Carrathor after that. The Current King is Carrathor's son, Lysander.
