The Assassination of Baron Grayson

Resting in his quarters, Lord Grayson read the Tome of the Winter Gods as he did every year, like clockwork. Refamiliarizing himself with religious practices he had performed every month for all the decades of his rule. He rested his reading glass on the table beside him as the heavy wooden door squeaked open. And the voice that rose out from it was not his Baronsguard Commander.

Baron Grayson was assassinated in his chambers on the eve of the last and holiest eclipse of the year as he read from the Tome of the Winter Gods. The assassination was an unidentified mage who magically removed his heart and forced bleeding from his eyes in the image of Marron.
