Social Structure

Huntsman Elves tend to isolated, forested regions and organize themselves into familial clans led by elders, usually 1000+ year old grandparents of the rest of the clan. In times of war, however, they are led by their best hunters.

Dilated pupils to absorb more light with little to no iris and/or monochromatic iris coloration Hair tends to be more arboreal coloration, on a spectrum between dark browns to lighter chocolate-tones with some degree of green tint Ears pointed but rarely pulled back further than a human's with attached lobes

Naming Traditions

Tend towards names composed almost entirely of consonants making pronunciation by other races difficult.

Beauty Ideals

Shorter, darker skinned mates of both sexes are preferred alongside a recent poetic wave of adoration for longer hair with deeper green-tints, although older generations push back against the trend

Gender Ideals

Men are village protectors and gatherers. Women are mothers and hunters both, providing for not only their children but the children of the whole clan. Male elders are expected to be more conservative while female elders are seen as more righteous and just.

Courtship Ideals

When a woman fancies a man, she presents to him jewelry woven of sinew and uneaten organs from her most recent kill. If he returns her affections, he gives her the largest berries he gathered that day. Courtship is usually quick and for the purposes of reproduction mostly.

Relationship Ideals

Huntsman elves usually don't have lasting relationships, seeing monogamy as unnatural. Clans usually have their own consummation rites before children are conceived but relationships end shortly after conception.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Elven(regional), common Druidic, rarely Common(regional). "Outsider" is used primarily as a slur and nature is referred to in the singular like a close friend.

Common Etiquette Rules

Complimenting a hunter on her technique is a welcomed introduction. Conversations are usually in the clan's dialect of Elvish.

Not burying unused parts of your kills to return their soul to nature
Not asking for permission before killing another creature.

History

Huntsman Elves, unsurprisingly, don't have a storied history due to how they don't do all that much with the other races. Their long war against the Orcish horde ended many generations ago and they haven't been as friendly to outsiders since. When they do interact with outsiders, it is usually as protectors of their forests, preaching harmony with nature and swiftly executing those who defile it.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Huntsman elves are distrustful of other races who have not proven themselves as allies of nature.
Although they maintain a historically rough relationship with orcs, they've started to join them in solstice celebrations for the annual rebirth of nature.
