Meerlin (Mehr- Lin)


The city of Meerlin is a large city, focusing on the protection of Culture. Meerlin was built over a remnant of Tumholde, its ruins being a focal point of the city and location of historical value for the nation. Being the largest port city in Durbar, the port is also home to the entire naval fleet of Durbar. With dangerous seas bordering the coast of the nation, a powerful navy was a necessity for imports and exports to make it up and down the coast. The Crimson Vanguard protects the seas, trade caravans travelling in small fleets with no less than three navy ships there for protection as they move along the coast. Due to this dedication on protection for the people, trade across The Sanguine Tides is a primary source of income for the nation. One trading guild known as The Keepers, is based out of Meerlin and was the first founded trade company in the nation. Over the centuries they have improved on their craft, and export the finest goods Durbar has to offer.
Due to the cities proximity to Gul-Dratum, and also being the main fleet of The Crimson Vanguard being parked in the harbor, Meerlin sees lower crime rates than its sister city of Sweodoon. The thieves guild The Shifting Sands has a minor presence in town. The local guard offer bounties on thieves and bandit attacks on the road to keep both the town and roads as clear as possible. The local branch of Crimson Vanguard also sees to investigations of missing caravans between Meerlin and Hildvik.
