Orth

Orth is an inhospitable planet, poisonous and volatile. Only the most dangerous fauna and flora can survive on the surface. The population of the surface mostly comprises of dead cities and ghoulish beast. Most of Orth is covered by a shifting blanket of a thick brownish smog. It is breathable, if barely. No one knows how Orth came to this, and it is impossible to discover why.   Above the surface lies the Shards. Shards are massive floating islands, shaped like an inverted pyramid, linked together by portals and bridges. They hover above the smog and inhabit the clear sky. Most Shards are around 10 miles wide, but vary widely in size. They span seemingly forever in every direction. Shards don't move on their own, being anchored by some strange force.   This is where the people of Orth live. Orthians thrive on these strange islands. They provide everything that the surface could, but without the danger. Wood, water, food, stone, even metals. People are content to live here without questioning the origin of these Shards. They've been here than any living being could remember. No records of the time before exist, but legend says that Orth use to be a beautiful and lush planet. This is where the ORG come in. The Orth Research Guild are tasked with the matter of learning anything they can about Orth and the Shards origins.
