Qualifications

A future Pokemon trainer requires only two things: a desire to learn and grow with Pokemon, and a mentor, often a Pokemon professor, to pair then with a Pokemon.

Career Progression

Pokemon Trainers have many career options. They can follow the path of the champions and head for the Elite Four, if their region has one. They can become a Pokemon researcher, or a Ranger, or any other careers involving Pokemon. They can also go down a darker path and join an illegal Team, with intentions of world domination, or worse.
In Orre, unlike in in other regions, there are few jobs involving solely Pokemon, as pokemon are scarce. Many do not form the bonds with Pokemon that are common in other regions because of this scarcity. In Orre, if you have Pokemon, you have to be willing to fight to protect them.

Other Benefits

Trainers soon learn that the greatest benefit in training pokemon is the bonds they make with their team. Trainers and their team become very close, and often stay together long after their journey is over.
In Orre, however, pokemon and trainers ally for less sentimental reasons. Many use pokemon to defend themselves from harmful Teams and overly brave criminals. Pokemon ally with humans for protection and food. This has been Orre's way for a long time. However, following the two falls of Cipher, it's become more commonplace for Trainers and Pokemon to be emotionally close, a trend caused by stories of the Mysterious Snagger and Michael's healing of Shadow Pokemon with their kindness.

Perception

Purpose

Pokemon Training is a rite of passage. It teaches basic financial competence, wilderness survival, leadership, fitness, determination, and many, many more skills. Trainers are the backbone of society, the center of commerce and many trades. The memories made on a journey are treasured for a lifetime.
In Orre, the role of the Trainer doesn't exist like it does in the rest of the world. There's no time for sentimentality when the world is a desert and evil is everywhere. After the journey of the Mysterious Snagger, pokemon journeys became a more popular concept. These days, a Pokemon journey often involves trying to defeat the many Teams that swarm the deserts, a journey that is oftentimes more successful than you'd expect.

Demographics

Most trainers start their journeys at age ten, but Trainers range in age from 10 to 99.

Operations

Tools

A Trainer needs two things at the minimum to succeed: a Pokemon and pokeballs. Other equipment, such as survival gear, bicycles, fishing rods, and sleeping bags are often purchased with a trainer's own money to add comfort to their journeys.

Workplace

The world is a trainer's oyster. From town to town and region to region, Trainers travel and battle to learn and grow.

Legality

Trainers are not just legal, they are a core part of society.
