She is a pretty woman in her 20's, dressed in clothes suitable for her station - as a vassal security apparatchik, she doesn't dress fancy. She has made herself a simple evening meal and is reviewing a pile of documents. "These letters are from different people in our office in the capital. Which one of them is lying?" her mentor had asked her.   A servant delivers a parcel from Natalya’s mentor. It contains   a letter, warning of imminent murder a locket, with a bit of the Mentor’s hair (a memento she could use to mimic the mentor's form later with Skinshifting)   after the coded phrase that only she and her mentor share.   ”Remember those things I said you could only do over my dead body? If you’re reading this, I’m already dead, and it is time to do those things. How convenient that we were practicing mimicry this week. the locket contains some of my hair.
