The challange of the hunt

In Njotenhaim it is an old tradition for the young giants of the clan to go on a hunt fur a Leucrotta, that would have been released from captivity. If the giant doesn't hunt the creature within a years time, he is seen as a deadman, forever ignored by his tribe, he does not have any place to live or stay, he is forced to roam and make himself a home somewhere far away from the place of his birth.   In this case, the giant coming of age is a clan leaders son the creature sent in not a Leucrotta, but instead, a Mammoth, that, same as the Leucrotta, is specifically grown for this end.

History

Originating from a long time ago, when giants used to hunt humans instead of Leucrotta, it was changed in order to uphold the pact with the wizards of the Dark Lands. While some speak against the pact, nothing can be done about it, as long as the current king sits on the throne.

Execution

It is done when the giant reaches 30 years of age.
A Leucrotta is released, which they have on farms for this specific reason.
After a year the challenge is proclaimed over
Because of the peaceful times and many new giants being born, it has become a semi-common job to be a Leucrotta farmer, where it is important to train the beast to fear giants, and for them to attempt to run away, while still being strong enough to put up a fight if cornered.
If the Leucrotta that was trained for the job is weaker ar doesn't attempt to run, then it is seen as an insult against the hunter, many giants would request a duel in they feel that their pride was sullied.
