Bright light night

Overview

There is a planet called the Decadis that comes close to this world every 10 years. It's characterized by a bright light that the planet shines off of the sun making a 24h cycle extremely bright, the night is 10 times brighter than what it would be, from just the moon. Now the date is celebrated in many countries, including the Dark Lands.

The celebration is in the middle of summer and is known to not have any stops. Heavy drinking, music, and singing are all-night happening. Many do not sleep through the night and prefer to keep the energy going with herbs and other medicines.

The Decadis god

In Leoneses (a country ruled by a god, associated with the coming of Decadis) the Roles of the church are changed on the day of the "Bright light night" and new arch-priests (Enlighteneds) is chosen to serve the next 10 years.

Dark Lands

It is famously known that the "Bright light night" is the only day in the Decade that the sun actually breaks through the thick clouds of the region of Dark Lands. It is seen as a blessed day.

Time

Because the planet comes around once every ten years, that time span is called a decade. And the current time is kept With year 0 being the night of when the earth was the closest to the Decadis. The time from then is broken down as Pre-Null (PN) and After-Null (AN).

History

The star was known to exist for a long time, but it was just recently that Astrolagists found that the planet has a changing distance from earth. A 100 years ago, it was the closest, that it had ever been, and that it would only come that close again in around 500 years, reaching the closest state to the world in another 1000 years.
