Arassh

A race of magical beings in tune with nature itself, the Arassh area a humanoid race that in many places blend into society unseen. Full Arassh have high levels of natural magic and connections to nature, and prefer to live close to it. These abilities and connections are watered down as the blood connection is, but a basic connection and better understanding of nature remains in any being posessing an at all notable amount of Arassh blood.

Basic Information

Biological Traits

The most notable feature of an Arassh or Half-Arassh is the magical ability to manipulate the nature around them; to cause plants to grow and die, to move towards or away from an area.

Growth Rate & Stages

Arassh grow at the same rate and in similar stages to humans; this makes it very easy for them to blend in to human society.

Additional Information

Facial characteristics

Arassh look almost identical to humans in terms of facial features, with one key difference; any person half Arassh or more typically has bright silver eyes.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Full Arassh have an extra sense; the ability to sense the nearest water sources and forests. This is present in this with Arassh blood, but often is weaker as the bloodline becomes more diluted. Full and half Arassh specifically, however, have heightened sense of sight in low light, being able to see just as well in twilight as during the middle of the day.

Civilization and Culture

Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals

Most Arassh follow devotedly the goddess Saieme, gathering in holy places across Orcovia to celebrate her festivals, one in each season.

Common Taboos

The only enforced taboo within Arassh culture is to go against nature. Those who do are shunned, turned out, and chased out of any meeting of Arassh, and disallowed from attending the festivals of Saieme.

History

According to Arassh legend, they were created as a race when the goddess of nature, Saieme, realised the risk posed to nature by civilisation, and decided therefore to create a species to protect the wildlife and forests. Since then the Arassh have fiercely done so, refusing to take part in any war or break any laws unless it was in the interest of nature to do so. Due to this they have a reputation as a peaceful race, generally abiding by the laws of whatever country in which they reside, although any Arassh known to not protect nature or to go against it is shunned by any other Arassh they should come across.

Common Myths and Legends

The most famous Arassh myth is that of how they were created; outside of this, however, they have many tales and legends of great Arassh protecting nature from those threatening it, along with upholding the legends and myths related to the goddess Saieme in high regard, similarly to any of her non-arassh devotees.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

The Arassh are mostly peaceful towards the other sapient species of Orcovia, with no major feuds between the races occuring purely because any such feud would endanger the wildlife that they protect. Due to this, all other species and ethnicities that have no adversion to magic view the Arassh as peaceful.

The Arassh are a species that have been around since time itself was documented, with none truly having an explanation for how they exist outside of the basic understanding of how all things came to exist; that is, that they were created by the gods.
