Humans

"Too few limbs. Even with them splitting into five at the end it isn't nearly enough to do any delicate task. And the way they move... walking, they call it, more like falling! With each step they fall and then they stop their fall with the other limb. I'm always afraid my host will miss a step once and fall head first into the ground."
-Excerpt from the report of Boundary Walker Tharum Elbediem Frehas, of the Am'Thurbd Scouting Division

Basic Information

Anatomy

Typical body plan of most large animals of OPO1: bilateral symmetry, a head with two eyes, two ears, mouth and nose, a body with two hands and two legs and no tail. Very little natural covering on the body, with the exception of the head which protects the fragile head from the heat of OPO2.

Genetics and Reproduction

They consist of two very distinct sexes, one of each being necessary to produce offspring. The new individual develops initially through gestation within one of the two sexes. Genomic details cannot be determined currently as we lack the fine instruments necessary within the Outer Plane.

Growth Rate & Stages

The first stage of development is gestation within one of the parents. A very slow maturing process then ensues, even by OPO1 fauna standards. Adulthood is reached between the age of 15 and 20 cycles.

Ecology and Habitats

Humans inhabit plains and hills near bodies of water, be them salty sea, lake or river. Mountains are outside their reach because of ogrid habitation. Their presence can be extremely destructive for the nearby flora and fauna. Civilizations which have not transitioned to stationary agriculture use a more primitive form of cultivation which involves burning forests, using its remains as fertilizer and then moving to another patch of land to burn and cultivate. It is assumed that many of the grasslands now encountered in the middle and northern latitudes were once forests that have been exterminated by humans.

Biological Cycle

Humans share the same troubling characteristic as most of the lifeforms on OPO1. After a set number of cycles their bodies begin to malfunction, like an unmaintained machine. This happens regardless of how well-fed and unaffected by disease they are. Their views on death have accordingly been affected by this inevitability.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

They posses sight, albeit with only two eyes and no infrared perception. Hearing, taste and touch are similar to a Mopi'oi, however they also posses the ability to sense elemental agents in the air using their nose.
Scientific Name
Homo Sentis

"Very distinct sexes" is very idealist and disregards intersex and trans people. Biology is more complex, unpredictable and flexible.

Was so happy when I saw the first comment on my work. Thoroughly disappointed to realize it was just an empty political statement :( . The Mopi'oi are however sexless, maybe those would appeal more to you.

It's not empty, but it certainly is political.
