Bipolar

Bipolar (an already existing disease irl) is a mental disorder which causes extreme mood swings between a state of mania and depression. The mood swings differ from person to person, some can have 3 months of mania and 6 months of depression while others will have 3 weeks of mania and 6 weeks of depression. However, one common factor with bipolar is that the depressive swings are usually double the time of the mania swings.
Mania: This state starts off with the person feeling pretty happy and excitable, they start to get a little bit easier to annoy until eventually even the smallest annoyance triggers an angry outburst out of proportion to the annoyance.
Depression: This state triggers after the manic swing and causes suicidal, sad thoughts where the person feels they cannot derive joy from any activity. This usually results in a lack of enthusiasm to do anything and an overall pessimistic attitude towards everything
Now, in Breace, the reaction to mental disorders is usually positive with treatment and such, but the people of Breace are a race of happy people and they all feel it is their moral duty to alleviate the kingdom of sadness. If you have depression or bipolar, you will be executed. It is, obviously, unknown by the people that the royal family has a history of bipolar.

Bipolar causes rapid mood swings in which the victim suffers anger in a manic state or suicidal thoughts in a depressive one

Treatment

In Breace, the only treatment for bipolar is a complete removal of the brain and the rest of the head with an undignified funeral

Cultural Reception

If the people catch onto your down, depressing state, they will all gang up on you and beat you. If the police get to you before the people kill you, you will be taken to court where the evidence of your disorder will be presented to a jury of your peers (More likely than not the same people who beat you) in which they will decide what your fate will be. A lot of the time the jury will sentence you to death just to be sure. If you are depressed or bipolar or have any other similar mental disorder, you gotta be careful not to let it show or you will die
