Half Blood Elf

A chortle spurts from a burly teenage Human as he casually leans against the fenced boardwalk of the local butcher. A small dagger of fine craftsmanship is displayed proudly, strapped to his chest like one emulating an individual with actual capabilities. There is, however, little to fear in a town so tightly controlled by the Company.   "Hey! Hey you!"   ...   "HALLLLLLFFFFF BLOOOOOODDDDD!"   A modestly dressed woman of similar build turns her unblemished face turns toward the bully. The face's youthfulness suggests she is the younger but the hardness set deep in her eyes betray years of similar abuse. Small protutions tip each ear like an adolescent Elf or mayhaps one of those filthy Halfling.   "Mind your manners, boy!" she replies, shifting the package she carries to her right hip to reveal a small gold badge emblazoned with a needle and thread.   The boy's silence signals obedience. Who was he to challenge one of the members of the Ambachtsgilde?

Heritage

Despite their descendence from two separate ancestries (Human and Elf), the Half Blood Elf aren't biologically distinct enough to qualify as a different species - they're more a blending of the other two. The extremes of both their ancestral lines are muted in a twisted form of natural eugenics.   Half Blood Elves are heavier, more muscular, and stronger than the Elf but not as much so as the Human. They are shorter lived yet more ingenuitive than Elf, and longer lived and more artful than Human.   By forming two into one, they are reminiscent of each yet unique.

Culture and cultural heritage

As to be expected by mixed ancestry, there are four sub-cultures in Half Blood Elf society:

  1. Elven: A Half Blood Elf born and raised in an Elf household is more likely to adapt Elf traditions and culture than develop their own. Subtle influences of their Human traits are sometimes evident in that they solve problems more "out-of-the-box" but also "simply" than their peers. Some Elven Half Bloods prefer to be different, and others try to mask or destroy their "flawed heritage".
  2. Human: The opposite of an Elven Half Blood is the Human Half Blood. Born and raised in a Human household and adopting Human culture. They're Elf heritage can also bleed through with creative passion and "complexity" that is atypical from a fullblooded Human. Human Half Bloods also vary between open display and self destruction of their Elf-relations.
  3. Mixed-Culture: A Mixed-Culture Half Blood Elf is almost exclusively raised in a "lower upper class" or "upper middle class" home of mixed parentage. The gender identity and sexual orientation of their parents has no discernable effect on the Half Blood individual. They adopt and blend both cultures of their ancestors and make it their own. If any of the four sub-cultures were said to "thrive", it would be the Mixed-Culture Half Blood Elf. Their unique blend of culture, genetics, and ability lead to exceptional performance in areas such as research, invention, and the arts (provided they can find the right market). As such, Mixed-Culture Half Blood Elves are the predominant demographic of the Ambachtsgilde and some areas of Barnema Trade Company (albeit in a lower capacity/prominance as Elf, Human, Gnome, and Dwarf).
  4. Spurned: Some Half Blood Elf have no real home from their progeny. They end up in the middle or lower class, beggers or slaves, or just dead. Some of these outcasts band together in a sort of rebellious society anti-culture. Others end up inheriting the culture of one of the other species (namely Dwarf, Gnome, or even Halfling).
