मुक्त किया गया विचार घोषणा-पत्र

(Hindi) Mukt Kiya Gaya Vichaar Ghoshana-Patr - The Free Thought Declaration

The मुक्त किया गया विचार घोषणा-पत्र is the central text of the religious cult मुक्त दिमाग.   The original writings were inscribed on the flesh of the cult's followers by its leader Sean Craiceáilte - each new member was a continuation of their predecessors. If a member of the cult died, the portion of their body containing holy text was flayed. Once their hide was preserved, they were added to the loosely bound book of other "pages" carried by Sean Craiceáilte.

Purpose

The writings of the मुक्त किया गया विचार घोषणा-पत्र served three purposes:

  1. Induct new members into the cult for life
  2. Record the revelation of Sean Craiceáilte
  3. Prepare the cult to halt and/or survive the impending apocalypse

Document Structure

Clauses

दर्शन (darshan) - The Visions

The first section of the book contained the elaborate retelling of Sean Craiceáilte's original vision of disaster. The first entry is technically the overview that Sean carved into his own thighs immediately after his experience. The first cult initiates were marked with expanded versions of the key events - a combination of text and imagery mutilating much of their body.

सीखना (seekhana) - The Learnings

The second section of the book contained the efforts of the cult to discover when, where, and how the great war would commence. When cultists would explore the world and report back to Sean, he would cut into their body any significant findings. A members usefulness and tenure within the cult could be established by the extent of this text on their body.

उपदेश (upadesh) - The Teachings

The third and largest section of the book contained the communal knowledge of the cult. Each cultist's proficiency and education in skills useful for surviving destruction and re-building society became their scars. Reknown within the cult came from either a specialization of critical knowledge or, more frequently, the breadth of an individual's proficiency in multiple areas.

Caveats

अपराध और बहिष्कार (aparaadh aur bahishkaar) - Crimes & Excommunication

All entries had to be curated by Sean Craiceáilte to avoid duplicate, inconsistent, or unimportant entries. Indoctrination of new members were done by his hand at the request of existing members.   Any individual who attempted induct their own convert, or add to their own or any other cultist's writings faced punishment - branding to render the blasphemies illegible.   When the trespass was repeated or greater significance, the cultist faced excommunication:

  • First they received the aforementioned branding
  • Next, legitimate markings were flayed from their living flesh and the wound salted
  • Finally, their remaining flesh was destroyed by a combination of cutting and burning by the other congregants.
Never again would the excommunicated be able to record false teachings. Instead they would walk the world knowing of their impending demise, powerless and alone, a living monument to those who turn from मुक्त दिमाग.

Author's Notes

Worldbuilding Advent Calendar 2020 - 4 / 31
The original title for this text in my mind was "The Freed Mind Manifesto", which led to the Hindi words:
  • मुक्त किया गया (mukt kiya gaya) - freed
  • विचार (vichaar) - idea, opinion, consideration, thought, thinking, mind
  • घोषणा-पत्र (ghoshana-patr) - manifesto
