The first necromancer

(The following is an excerpt from a book on the history of necromancy. an uncommon tome, but one found in the libraries of scholars)   "Many dispute the origin of necromancy. Many would have you believe that it stems from the weave itself, a primal force harnessed by the arcane-inclined. Others are convinced that it is a bastardisation of energy from the Negative energy plane; discovered by experiments of the mad and deranged.

The truth however; is far more terrifying. Stories talk of a sage; older than time. A necromancer not taught their trade, but born into it. They are the essence of all death; the inevitable fate of all that exists. Like death, they both do and do not exist; but are a constant throughout conceived reality. They command the negative energy plane like a baker kneads bread, laying waste to all within their vast reach. They are not a lich, not a god; but a force beyond divinity itself.

Death has a consciousness; an eternal brain that remembers all it has killed. It mourns, it tries to atone. But in trying, it only murders more. And yet it is to be admired. From it's essence comes the inspiration from the Spell 'False Life', all the way to 'True Resurrection'. But it (and by extention the necromancy school) is far more than what we already know. For even know the greatest minds discover more of how to manipulate that dark section of the weave. Still fervent are the visions of the demon with eyes of blue."
