Cute urban dwelling bird so named for the rune-like patterns on their wings. They have an innate connection with magic, and thus are a choice companion for spellcasters. They First started to appear in the years following the Great cataclysm, and have thrived ever since.

Lays a single egg after conception. eggs take roughly 2 months to hatch.

From chick to adult takes roughly 8 months

They live in urban environments, primarily large cities.

Dietary Needs and Habits

It's diet consists of small rodents and insects.

Biological Cycle

During the winter, they often remain indoors-seeking refuge in attics, abandoned buildings, ect.

Social Structure

They are a very family oriented species; keeping company only with thier close relatives, leaving only to start their own families.

Domestication

Often domesticated by Spellcasters and Runewing fans. The proccess isn't that difficult, as they seem to like the races of man anyway. Usually one simply has to routinely hang around near their nest; feed them, and pet them for good measure. Oddly, spellcasters seem to have an easier time at currying their favour.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Used in a similar way to canaries; but to detect magic as opposed to smoke.

Can be found in most towns and cities in moderate climates.
