Hilturn
The city rose up from the rolling plains like a layered cake; tier after tier of thick walls, watchtowers and ballistae. There were three walls in total, but another was being constructed; enormous blocks of freshly milled stone were piled around the city walls. The skeleton of the new wall was almost completed, webbed with scaffolding and tarp. Beyond the main gate, a thousand different plumes of smoke rose from cookfires and chimneys, but not even they reached as tall as the spires of the grand cathedral or the sharp, angular towers of Whitestone Keep. Although the city was bustling with activity, there was a militarised edge to it all; heavily armoured guards patrolled the streets and from the walls, stern soldiers looked over the city with crossbows and pikes ready. Harris couldn't decide whether he felt safe within the walls of Hilturn - or in great danger.
