Tolken

The valley of Thunder

A fresh village, located in a misty valley, in it's center a stone castle overseeing the entire valley, built before the last great war, abandoned and forgotten as the war went on and swallowed more and more of the kingdoms men and resources.   The people of the village have taken to raising horses, and there herdes can be heard when they run across the valley grasslands, creating thunder with there stampeding hovs.   This land was recently reconnected with its king but still lies so far away from it´s central government, with many people wanting to decide what is next to happen with it. A land in need of adventures to grasp what actually lurks in the hills, mountains, rivers and forests surrounding the village.

Demographics

90% Human, 4& Goblinoids 3% Orc, 3% Other

Government

The village is ruled by a Viceroy that has been sent here by the Mortimear Barony to govern, collect tax, and enforce the laws of the kingdoms.

Defences

Wooden walls with several towers evenly placed around it and, three gates, one large facing North, another large facing West and one facing South.

Industry & Trade

The village main exports are horses, timber, cloth and hides which it exports to the Human Kingdom and the Orcish Nation. Most people in the village are either farmhands, wood loggers, tanners, builders helping with the Cathedral, hunters or town guards.   The village due to not having any mines in the area imports a lot of metal goods from the inner parts of the Human Kingdom and also magical remedies and nick knacks from the Orcish Nation.

Infrastructure

Castle Tolken lies on top the large hill that is inside Tolkens wooden walls, the courtyard is open during the early hours of the day so that the townsfolk can talk and raise issues with the Viceroy.   Several bridges have been built during the years since the town was first founded, them allowing for far faster travel between Tolken and the inner parts of the Human Kingdom, making Tolken much less of a remote place.   A aqueduct ruining from the mountains down south provides the town with an ample water supply year round.   A Cathedral dedicated to the four Human gods is being built inside the village, it is estimated to be done in 10 years time at the current rate and budget, the project is overseen by the Church of Gospel.

Assets

There is a open market in the central square of the village where the local farmers, traders and the occasional traveling merchant have stalls filled with goods, raging from basic food, and fabric to more rare things such as jewelry, books or magical items.   The Orc Nation has been allowed to set up a store/embassy in which they sell goods and trinkets from there nation, including minor scrolls, garments, talismans, magical potions and provide the public with assistans dealing with any spiritual guidance they might need while also acting as ambassadors of the Orc Nation.   The town does have a cobbler, several tailors, a carpenters workshop, several tanners, a few leather workers, a bowyer, a tavern functioning as a hostel, and stone cutters just outside the south city gates and then further south on top of the valley edge lies a windmill.   The town lacks a proper blacksmith as the only one works for the castle and focus mostly on fixing and maintaining the gear of the town guards, and there for getting any proper weapons and armor is difficult but can usually be asked to be purchased by the monthly caravan once they leave for the inner parts of the Human Kingdom.

History

The Castle was finished 200 years ago, but it was left unoccupied and forgotten until 15 years ago due to the Trident War starting only 5 months after it had been finished, the town itself was built around the castle in the last 10 years.

Architecture

Long single-store wooden buildings, with dirt floor and round glass-less windows, hay or wooden-brick roofs, great massive doors that you can fit a horse through and a lot of symbols and carvings featuring horses, arrows, shields, axes and bears decorate the houses.

Geography

The village lies in a shallow valley about four acres large with mountains to the south and more deeper valleys and canyons to the north, with untold amounts of forests surrounding it. In the northern most corner of the town is a steep hill which the Tolken castle is built upon, giving a view over the valleys edge from the castle walls.   The village gets most of its water from a aqueduct built in the last years that gather water from the mountains down south. The forest around are of mixed variety but not uncommon for the fauna seen in the Human Kingdom, smaller creeks and rivers coming from the mountains run through the forests.   A larger unnamed river lies three miles south of the village and can provide the townsfolk with fish and can act as a source of water if the aqueduct fails or need repairs.

Natural Resources

A healthy and vibrant land filled with forests, plenty of creeks and small rivers surrounds the village allowing for plenty of wildlife to be hunted, wood to be logged and herbs to be plucked and used in medicine and remedies.   Down south lies mountains and rocky areas full with minerals and a large river that provide fish. The lands closest to the village provide good farmlands to sustain the village with crops and grains.   Several families raise horses in the village and are highly sought after in the Human Kingdoms.
