The Obynaan Colony of Adiril

The Home of the Dragonborn

The Obynaan Isles were, at one point, part of the Misoren Continent, but During a cataclysm of at unknown age, the Northern half of the Continent of Misore was sunk under the waves of the Keranni Ocean. The Isles were a stronghold to a nation of Giants whose name was lost to history. These Giants Enslaved both Dragons themselves, and the humanoid reflections of the Dragons, Dragonborn. The Schism and resulting Sundering caused the collapse of the Giant's Society, freeing the Dragonkin to self-govern over their former master's lands. The Birrodi Clan rose to the forefront of this new Dragonborn nation, on the Eastern Island of Dracheninsen, upon which the New City of Boroshii was founded, to be the capital of this new Nation. Other Great Clans also rose in ranks, The Farkaan Clan, of the City Leridia, The Turnuroth Clan, of the City Ferrigan, The Kruccek Clan, of the City Sarloch, The Bolanni Clan, of the City Eldrel, The Penarrus Clan, of the City Stigimore, The Jarrun Clan, of the City Marion, And the Laagabor Clan, of the Haven.   Until 547 AS, the Obynaan Isles were ruled by a ruling family of Dragonborn named the Birrodi Clan. Early in the year of 546, the Adirilian Empire, fueled by the death of an Adirilian noble under mysterious circumstances, invaded the Obynaan Isles and took control of the Birrodi nation. The Clan’s members were rounded up, executed, and disposed of before 548 had even rolled around. As of 558 AS, the current year, there are no known members of the Borrodi clan left in Obynaa, and the smaller families that supported the Borrodis were either banished, eradicated, or (most commonly) went into the service of other Clans. Now, over ten years since the war ended, there are still resistance groups in the islands, fighting against the Adirilian Occupation in an unending guerrilla war. There is now a sort of peace, as in 558 many of the resistance cells have scaled back activity after the discovery of a treacherous clan, and its subsequent destruction by the occupying force in 557. Now, the Governor of Obynaa, Prince Gerard Shol, is moderately well-liked, despite being the Crown Prince of Adiril and not being of draconic ancestry. Prince Shol has made genuine attempts to aid the people of the Isles and has scaled back the iron fist of the occupation since he was appointed as governor in 556. The Great Dragon Clans now give the Prince their support, whether due to fear of meeting the same fate as their old overlords or due to the genuine care the prince seems to show for the people he governs. The Turnuroth Clan is the largest of these Great Clans, and generally the advisors to the Governor in relation to magic. There are other clans as well, 6 Great Clans and around 20 smaller ones, but it would take a long time to name them all here. Anyway, the political landscape seems to be settling out, 12 years after the invasion began, and people are getting on with their lives.

Culture

The Clan is the most important thing to an Obynaan Dragonborn, and those that are Clanless are second-class citizens, cannot own land, and are often not allowed inside "nicer" establishments.

The Southern Island has a small nation of Elves, The Saltsea Traders, who came to the Island from Southern Misore after the Schism. The Western Island has the main Enclaves of two of the Great Clans, Jarrun and Penarrus.   Until 546 AS, the Obynaan Isles were ruled by a ruling family of Dragonborn named the Birrodi Clan.
