Magic Classifications

There are six basic/main classifications of magic:   ---Earth Magic =Earth Magic deals with all things related to the surface of the earth. This includes rocks, soil, sand, etc. The basic command given to Majai in Earth Magic is “to move (solids)”   ---Heat Magic =Heat Magic pertains to flame and rays; anything that generates heat falls into this category. The basic command given to Majai Heat Magic is “to heat”   ---Life Magic =Life Magic encompasses the restoration, revitalization, and recreation of life and spiritual essences. This is achieved by letting Majai flow into the target of the spell. The basic command given to Majai in Life Magic is “to give”   ---Light Magic =Light Magic is the manipulation and concentration of light. The basic command given to Majai in Light Magic is “to shine.” It should be noted that darkness spells also falls under Light Magic, with the command “to dim”   ---Water Magic =Water Magic pertains to liquids in any state; calling it Water Magic is a bit misleading. This type of magic is the basis for poison based spells, among others. The basic command given to Majai in Water Magic is “to move (liquids)”   ---Wind Magic =Wind Magic is the manipulation of air and air currents. The basic command given to Majai in Wind Magi is “to move (air)”   -------- The main categories of magic are often combined to create further classifications, and some magics exist in their own categories:   ---Clairvoyance Magic =A Specialist type of magic that does not fall under any specific category, the goal of Clairvoyance Magic is to reproduce the flow of Majai; by reproducing a flow unique to a person, place, creature, or thing, that creature’s essence in the current place or time can be revealed. As such, an item or article with trace amounts of an individual’s Majai must be used. The commands most often used with Clairvoyance Magic is “match/copy” and “visualize.” Clairvoyance Magic is a popular magic type amongst seers and fortune tellers.   ---Conjuration Magic =A variation of Life Magic, Conjuration Magic reaches beyond space to transport/summon something. This works by giving the Majai the instruction to “give, take, and move”; this is achieved by using an amount of a caster’s own Majai to create a lasso of sorts that reaches and retrieves a target’s Majai, bringing it to the casters side. When an object’s Majai is transported, their physical being moves with it, as per the relation between form and Majai. This is the same type of magic that is used to create portals to other locations, even other planes of existence, by commanding the free exchange of Majai between two places. This teleportation still falls under the category of Conjuration Magic as Majai is still summoned from one location to another, though in much larger volumes than normal Conjuration.   ---Enchantment Magic =A Specialist type of magic that does not fall under any specific category, Enchantment Magic engraves/infuses an object with the terms or commands of a spell, along with primer commands that limit the activation of the spell. Actions such as swinging and speaking can activate the terms of the spell. Some enchanted objects, such as Bags of Holding, are given permanently activated commands to solidify the magical effects of the item in question.   ---Healing Magic =A variant of Life Magic, Healing Magic revitalizes a target by both sacrificing a bit of the caster’s own Majai as well as borrowing Majai from the world around the target. This revitalizes the spell target, replenishing their Majai reserves and equivalently restoring physical condition. The basic command is very similar to the original: “to give unto.”   ---Illusion Magic =A combination of Light, Wind, Heat, and Water Magics, Illusion Magic is a complex form of magic that bends light and manipulates air currents to create convincing, realistic mirages. The command given to the Majai, in simplest terms, is “to manipulate and recreate an image.” A skilled mage knows, depending on the environment and situation, how to craft the spell, while an amateur cannot adjust to irregular situations; thus, this magic is considered to be a specialist type, achievable only by those who study it. It is often combined with Sound Magic to create more realistic illusions.   ---Lightning Magic =A combination of Heat and Wind Magic, Lightning Magic gives the instruction “heat the air” to create the intense bursts of plasma known as lightning. Other than the form change, Lightning Magic functions much like Heat Magic in its manipulation and channeling.   ---Seer Magic =Another variant of Life Magic, Seer Magic follows the “fate” of a specific target to see its future. The command used for Seer Magic, “reveal the future,” fails quite often because of the fickle nature of Majai. However, if an appropriate amount of Majai is gathered/utilized, glimpses of where Majai will eventually go or become can be briefly viewed. A gathering on that scale is rare and dangerous, and cataclysms usually follow close behind.   ---Sound Magic =A variant of Wind Magic, Sound Magic infuses wind currents with Majai, causing them to vibrate intensely; thus, the basic command is “to oscillate.” These vibrations can be fine tuned to different frequencies to create sound. Sound Magic is often used as either an offensive weapon, such as in the case of the Thunderclap spell, or in tandem with Illusion Magic.   ---Wood Magic =A combination of Earth, Water, and Life Magic, Wood Magic gives the basic command of “create and manipulate wood.” While Earth and Water are able to be transmuted without the use of Life Magic, the resulting wood is dead; thus, Life Magic must be used if the product is to be alive and manipulable. Wood Magic is an umbrella category, however, as this magic is also used in the creation of plants, such as in the case of Vine Whip.   ---Poison Magic =A combination of Water and Life Magic, Poison Magic gives the basic command of “recreate and project.” It may seem confusing that Life Magic is used for poison, but this is because the magic achieves the opposite of its normal purpose; instead of infusing a target with Majai from the surrounding area, Poison Magic disperses the target’s Majai to the surrounding area, giving life to the environment but robbing the target of the same. When the vitality is drained from the target, they begin to experience effects such as blood clotting and infection, replicating the effects of natural poisons.
