Watchtower

A true classic among military structures. Employed by Servants of the blood gods, they let soldiers watch over the lands and gain an advantage during an attack.
Build throughout each settlement, mostly our of wood, watchtowers are spread out to let soldiers cover the whole location with ease. While through the regular day soldiers use them to watch out for trouble, during an attack they provide a good defended location to attack from with ranged weapons, while giving soldiers cover from enemy fire.

General layout:

Watchtowers tend to be 3x3m2 or 5x5.2 and 6-10m in height, most of it being the sturdy pillars holding it up. The platform is accessed by a ladder that can be easily pulled up and stored, so soldiers can put it back down after an attack.
The platform is surrounded by walls tall enough to hide behind, with slits on them and the floor to shoot through, while making it easy enough to let soldiers look around on a normal day.
Over the platform is often a thatch or wooden roof, made to shield them from rain and other surprises, the roof often sliding low enough to block arrows as much as possible, without restricting the view of the defenders.

Defenses:

The watchtower usually has two soldier on it, sometimes one or three, maybe four to five during an attack. During the night there usually is one or two guards. Along with guards, there are usually bows, crossbows and a stand with at least 50 of the appropriate ammunition. Some towers hold a blaze cannon as well, usually on watchtowers outside of settlements, used as a warning and to cause panic amongst the incoming attackers.
