Cybernetic Trees

The trees of The Forest are beautiful and resemble a complex computer system magnificently fused with a natural tree. However, within this beauty lies a dark secret. A secret that no one have yet to uncover. But those who enter The Forest, never return. Except for Barek. The One Who Returned is however not likely to speak any time soon.

Basic Information

Anatomy

They look like normal trees, mostly oak and maple. However, they have wires and clear circuit networks under the bark, and their leaves are large and circular, in an attempt to catch as much sunlight as possible with their solar panels.

Genetics and Reproduction

Excess electricity and nutrients is put into fruit. This fruit eventually falls to the ground, and when something breaks the outer shell and allows the seeds to fall to the ground, it will begin growing a new tree.

Growth Rate & Stages

It takes one tree about 15 years to fully grow, and they will live for roughly one thousand years.

Seed

It starts out as a seed, and that seed can and will sit on the ground for centuries, if not millennia, until something breaks it.

Sapling

Once the seeds begin growing, over the course of a month the tree will go from a simple seed to a sapling. The saplings are usually small, no more than a foot tall and a foot diameter, and absorb sunlight and nutrients from the soil to grow. They do not necessarily require water. They stay in this stage for about a year.

Young Tree

The young tree stage is a smaller form of the Adult Tree stage. This stage lasts roughly 14 years and it is the time where the tree finishes building its cybernetic components and infrastructure needed to survive, then eventually starts growing into a full tree. This stages size can range from 2 feet tall with a canopy of 2 foot radius to 10-15 feet tall with a canopy of 20 foot radius.

Adult Tree

This is the final stage of the tree's main life and will last roughly one thousand years. At this stage the tree is just collecting electricity and nutrients, growing fruit, and surviving.

Death

The death of these trees is incredibly fast. When the tree is dying, over the course of a day it will just fall apart into its components and sink into the ground beneath it, leaving nothing behind except empty space.

Ecology and Habitats

The optimal environment for the Cybernetic Trees is The Forest, as it is the only place they can survive.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The Cybernetic Trees need no water, all they require is sunlight and nutrients.

Biological Cycle

The Cybernetic Trees are barely affected by the seasons or the passing of time.

I would rephrase the initial quote blurb as follows:   "The trees of The Forest are beautiful and resemble a complex computer system magnificently fused with a natural tree. However, within this beauty lies a dark secret. A secret that no one have yet to uncover. But those who enter The Forest, never return. Except for Barek. The One Who Returned is however not likely to speak any time soon."     And in "Adult Tree" you have "just" twice. "Just collecting ..." and "just surviving." See if you can rephrase that.   Since the trees have no perception, you might as well just leave that blank, saving you two headers at the tend that just take up space.   What are the purpose of those trees in your setting? Do they fulfill any purpose at all narratively, or are they simply just normal trees but fused with nanites? Do they really need their own article in that case, or could they be fused into the Forest article? Those are the questions that pop up in my head as I read this.

Since their leaves are solar panels, are they black?
