Red-Tooth Viper

The Red-Tooth Viper is not so named because it’s teeth are red. In fact it’s teeth are white and it’s body a camouflage bronze. It is so named because of it’s thirst for blood. The Red-Tooth Viper is not an ambush predator or a stalker like most other snakes, but rather an active, seeking, hunter. It doesn’t use methods like constriction or even venom, but instead uses its serrated teeth. It has not one, but two pairs of abnormally large fangs, an several little serrated teeth. Being avid hunters, They normally have the blood of their latest victim, be it dried or fresh, on their teeth. And so the name Red-Tooth Viper was born. Some prefer to call them by a less confusing and frankly demeaning name, Sand Anaconda for their immense length. Though, this is confusing in it of itself in calling them both a viper and an anaconda. Red-Tooth Vipers have a history of being used by their... cousins, the Naga to judge a competitors power. Red-Tooth Vipers only yield to someone who is incredible in power. Examples of this may include:
Divine power (God apparitions, powerful Paladins, etc)
Arcane prowess (Powerful sorcerers and wizards, necromancers, etc)
Extreme Outnumbering
Immense physical strength

Basic Information

Anatomy

Red-Tooth Vipers are a camouflaged bronze, but rarely they can have streaks or specks of gold. The have two pairs of serrated fangs and several little serrated teeth. They move along the sand using a method called sidewinding like most desert snakes use, but to move fast and catch prey, they use a method called sand jumping. The snakes do not jump however, but move the front of their body like a whip and push off of the sand with their adept tail muscles. Doing this they can move up to 15 miles per hour for 5 hours at a time. When a Red-Tooth Viper feels threatened (which is not often) they will puff out their spike-flaps. These are pockets of skin and scales able to be unfurled at the snakes control. This makes it so that anything attempting to grab it will be spiked.

Genetics and Reproduction

Red-Tooth Vipers have a mating season that lasts about two weeks, in which a male finds a female, they mate, and lay eggs on the spot. The eggs take about a month to hatch, then the vipers burrow their way out of the sand and go off to find food.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The Red-Tooth Viper is a Hypercarnivore, with most if not all of its diet being meat. It hunts in a similar way to a lion, getting as close as it can before using its surprising speed to catch up and latch on to prey until they can bit it to death.
