Monarch

Graceful, elegant, and powerful. The words sounded like honey and silver threaded on a tapestry of sheer magnificence. Listening to it drew the breath out of the room and held the attention of the entire court, some began to cry crystal tears falling from jeweled eyes. Hearing the words of monarch spoken by Sorcerer King Montaz was a true honor and a once-in-a-lifetime experience. - Journal of Royal emissary of Bray.

Monarch is a royal language to only be spoken by the sorcerer monarchs of the tri-star cities. For those not of that lineage, the language is only to be heard. Anywho are not royal who speak are treasonous and those who abide its share in that treason.

Origins. The language of Monarch traces its origins back to the first elves of Lokara N'durien. The leaders of the first elves met a strange otherwordly being who guided them to Lokara N'durien while they were on their Miradon pilgrimage. This being gifted them three seeds and the language of great beauty. The being told them that they must reclaim the lost lands from creatures known as humans. Do this while guiding their people with this language of beauty. The first sorcerer monarchs spoke a dialect of Sylvan that held great beauty and renown. These speakers fast became the leaders of the elves and those who listened to their honeyed words held great resonance and love for them. None allowed themselves to speak this special dialect but only heed it. This tradition soon became fixed to their culture and soon it was named Monarch, a language to be heard but not spoken.

Purpose. Monarch was a gift to the people from the leaders and a gift to the leaders from the people. In the days of old, this coveted language inspired loyalty between leaders and subjects. Over time the language has become a ceremonial fixture and used to honor heritage. This language also bonds the royal succession as they speak to one another in this language while also teaching their young.
