Guardian's Promise

This powerful artifact was forged from Ashkin’s sacrifice - in a moment where all would be lost to the flames of Imix, his bravery and purity of soul not only saved his companions but the world. This heroic act once again sealed Imix, restraining him within the confines of a magically-wrought gauntlet, the metal dyed a myriad of colours by the wicked heat contained within.   Sylfi Llewyn used the power vested in her by Lanath to make a final, desperate wish during Ashkin’s passing - this wish would ultimately forge the gauntlet, sealing Imix away and ensuring that her long-time companion’s legacy would never be forgotten.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

To attune to Guardian’s Promise, one must place it over their hand. In doing so, the metal will heat, searing itself to the flesh of the wearer. This instantly attunes the wearer to the gauntlet. The gauntlet then cannot be removed - if the gauntlet, or the hand wearing it is removed from the wearer, the wearer is consumed by Imix’s flames, dying instantly.     Random Properties.
For the first time upon attunement Guardians Promise manifests one minor beneficial property, one major beneficial property, and one minor detrimental property.
  •  You gain resistance to fire damage.
  • +2 WIS, up to a cap of 24.
  •  Animals within 30 feet of you are hostile to you.
  Imix’s Hunger
  • Attuning to this item allows a fragment of Imix’s power to aid you, but it does not do so without recompense. While attuned to this item, you lose all of your hit die, and cannot regain them until you unattune from it. Additionally, whenever you use the active portion of the Flamedrinker feature, and whenever you use the Prince’s Spark feature, roll a d20. On a 1, Imix consumes your soul with his hellish flames, taking control of your body like a puppet. If this occurs, you become an NPC under the DM’s control.
Ashkin’s Shield
  • While wearing this gauntlet, your AC is increased by 5. You cannot gain the benefits of wielding a shield while attuned to this item.
Searing Edge
  • You can use a bonus action to invoke Ashkin’s name, causing a weapon you can see within 30 feet of you to alight with flames. The weapon sheds bright light in a 40 foot radius and dim light for an additional 40 feet. While the weapon is alight, it deals an extra 2d6 fire damage to any target it hits. The flames last until you use a bonus action to extinguish them by invoking Imix’s name, or until you use this feature on another weapon.
Flamedrinker
  • While attuned to this gauntlet, you gain resistance to fire damage, and if you already have resistance to fire damage, it becomes immunity. Additionally, once per long rest when you would take fire damage from any source (ignoring your resistances and immunities), you can use your reaction to absorb it, gaining temporary hit points equal to the amount of damage that would have been dealt.
Prince’s Spark
  • While attuned to this item, you can use your action to cast Dominate Monster without expending a spell slot or material components (Save DC 17). If the target is a fire elemental, then they make this saving throw with disadvantage. Once you’ve used this feature, you can’t use it again until the next dawn.
Speaker of the Hadarial
  • While attuned to this item, you can speak Giant and Ignan fluently.
