Grey Wastes
"The land is dead, its flats craked, its trees withered, its waters choked and stagnant. Nothing can truly live in a place like that, only exist. The things that exist in that place are truly horrible."
The grey wastes are situated in the center of Ostedor to the north of Fjollum. All cities bar the bulwarks of Estermash surround the Grey Wastes.
No man's land. There are no settlements within the Grey Wastes, only desolation. Ostedor is a place of sagas and within the bounds of the grey wastes, there is no glory to be had. Deserters or the banished are the only ones that travel into its body and none are ever heard from again. Many speculate that those they may have survived must have resorted to catabolism, welcoming dark powers, or worse their fates have lead them to become fuel to whatever else exists in that dead place.
Trees of Flesh. In recent days reports of trees of flesh have been filed from the Huntsmen guild. These trees have been said to be entwined with a swath of old magic. Reports tell of these flesh trees Screaming and moaning, being able to uproot themselves and move. Their branches are more like barbed tendrils. They are also said to be resistant to magic and highly dangerous.
Shepard of the Departed. Many tell tales of a dark wanderer who shepherds the dead both within and around the grey wastes. This Shapard is said to have been around for some time and if the stories are true must have marshaled an unimaginable force of undead. Often the Shepard is said to be in the company of Ghouls and Ghasts. Many of the Jarls prepare for a battle with the undead. Such a battle might be fatal but it would bring much glory to their domain if they were triumphant. Know one truly knows who the Shepard is or why they are collecting the corpses of the dead.
