Blood Filtering

The last lines of the blood filter ward were now drawn around the meeting hall of Dracziel Keep. A crown was placed on Theodric's brow and he was asked to hold a stone of light and a stone of darkness. The royal mages of Bray began their verbal and semantic components of this highly complex transmutation ritual. Theodric's eyes began to roll back in his head as the surge of magic hummed through the room, running through the ward. Drawing blood through its fractal form the stone of light is where the blood filtering process began. running through and on the edges of the crystal, the impurities of the blood are captured in stasis. As Gun'Ar, Paldor, Robert and Vaex looked on at the ritual they could do no more than to hear the gut curdling cries of their friend. As hard as it was to witness, they knew that it was neccercery. 
Blood filtering is a magical technique that removes targeted substances within the blood of the patient. 



Origin. The ritual of blood filtering can be traced back to the arcane arts of Thaiten. Though its original purpose was not intended to filter the life essence of mortals but instead to separate a certain lineage of devils from the infernal hierarchy. Using this process they were successful and were the first Rakshasa of Oaken'Ash. This magical ritual was incredibly useful and further research lead to other magical discoveries, Which the Rakshasa put to good use. One of those discoveries was the ritual known as blood filtering.



Components. The components of this ritual require a magical ward, a crown of a sovereign, the dead heart of a volcano and the heart of a pure cloud. These items must be held by the patient. Also, the three high mages who deliver verbal and somatic components. The components of this ritual are consumed upon completion of the ritual. This makes the ritual increadibly costly and rare.



Operation. The magical circuit powers the ritual by channeling the power from the high mages. The circuit also communicates to the three items of power each with their role in the filtering of the blood of the patient. The dead heart of a volcano acts as a power sink that saps any surges of magical power within the ritual or the patient. The heart of a pure cloud draws the blood from the patient. As the blood enters the form of the crystalline form of the heart of a pure cloud, the blood travels through the fractal form and folds into the possibilities of itself. Both hearts serve under a crown of a sovereign, following its commands. Depending on what is being filtered the ritual can take hours, days, weeks, or even months. This ritual is costly and takes a toll on all involved.
