1. Species in Numidius | World Anvil

1. Species

There are currently a total of 24 species available for players with some having several sub-races. Each of the races has their own strenghts and weeknesses with two sub groups of the same race sometimes exibiting a very different set of traits, features and even playstyle.

What if it were possible to shape and mold time as you would a ball of clay? What possibilities await? What new worlds could we create? what would your good do if evil did not exist, and what would the earth look like if shadows disappeared from it?
— Bela

Your race will influence your disposition with members of other races. Depending on your choice you might find yourself dealing with speciesism, salemizia or other difficulties while communicating with others.   Whatever your character actions are, big or small, misguided or intentional, we hope you'll find an interesting and enjoyable journey through their story.

Ability Scores & Feats

Before you can pick a race, you'll need to select you ability scores. Those represent your general strenghts and weakness. There is a total of 6 diffrent ability scores, 3 to determine your physical condition and 3 to determine your mental condition. Those stats are Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Charisma Intelligence and Wisdom.
The higher the score, the better you are in certain tasks, as displayed by the Ability Score Modifer table here. You can choose 1 of 2 options for selecting your ability points, point buy or standard array. When creating your character you can not have an ability score lower than 7 and having an ability score below 9 might restrict your choice of available classes.

You receive the following premade scores to delegate among your ability scores as you see fit: 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8.

Point Buy

You start with a score of 8 in every ability score and a pool of 27 points to be divided between them as you see fit. The higher the score, the more costly it is to invest in an ablity score. Use the table below to calculate the costs. You can not have a score lower than 7.

Feats

you recive 1 Feat of your choice during character creation, regardless of the race you and the ability scores you chose.
Feats are defining aspects of your skills and/or personality. Some races, backgrounds and classes have access to unique feats and some must pick a specific one. You might also recive new feats during your advanture as you level up or complete certain milestones. We'll expand more on feats in the last chapter of this guide.

The Common Races

Civilization is a place where nature gave away its future for the imeddiate needs of its children. It is where the people live free, yet are still slaves to lords, or laws or debt. It is where we hide from the dark by consuming the world itself to keep our lights in working order. The "civilized" folk would claim this is progress, I would claim you forever robbed us of our homes and sancuaries so you can cross a river.
— A Firbolg refugee from the forests near Dorbridge, following the construction of Hamopont Bridge.
Paraded the "Civilized Races" by biggots, ignorants and fools everywhere, these are the races you'll most commonly encounter while adventuring through the continent. While the term actually attribute nothing to members of these races being more 'civilized' over those of others, they are certainly the largest in terms of population. Members of these races might find it easier trying to move forward in life.

The Under-Common Races

Keep your dreams to yourself and for the nights so eventually you could wake up.
— FAMOUS BARD
There are those who are not outright shunned by society, yet forced to live in its margins. While not always under the danger of hate or persecution, life for members of these races is often unfair and unjust.

The Villified Races

Where they see brutes, I see talent. When they gather their armies I hear hatrad. When they come to burn our homes I smell fear. They say we are vile, that we are incapable of justice or mercy. I say we shall build a nation that would stand as equeal to theirs. A nations that could topple theirs if needs be!
Gorak Orsinium
By culture or by prejudice, some races are considered by most others to be brutish, too unruly or even taboo for their practices. Being a member of these races, you'll find very little trust when dealing with others, even those whom with you share a spot on this list.

The Wild Races

Sir, it's not the fact that you are one of the wildfolks. It is the fact that you lack the basic understanding of correct behaviors in our society that we must refuse you enty. I understand the sentimantal value of these shrunken skulls to your people, but I'm afraid it would negitively affect the experience for the rest of our patrons who came here to enjoy their dinner.
— The receptionist of the Three Dragons Inn to a Goliath emisary.
While not neccesarily wild by nature, the term "Wild Races" is often used to describe, much to their begrudgement, those that live outside of ordered society. These races have the core of their societies away from the prying eyes of the more common races. To most foreigners, their practices invoke mystery and intrigue more than fear.

The Strange Races

...Eyes bright red and his skin was covered in flames. I drowned the fiend that took my son in the river. We called a priest but it was too late. The body was charred as if it was in a dwarven forge. Crumbled to dust when we pulled it out of that bank. If Martha knew she'd kill herself, or even worse, try to find that demon. I told her the kid was taken by beasts. It's for the best.
— A farmer lementing over a mug of wine.
There are those who are not native to the Prime Material Realm and arrive there by the most perculiar of circumctances. On the other hand, there are those who are born normal but then changed by other, often outworldy influences. Whatever the case may be, members of these races are extremely rare in society. Most people have not seen one in their life time, much less converesed with one. To some, even the mere existance of such creatures is considered as a pure myth.

Half-breeds

Half breeds are a reseult of two races legacy. While not all races can 'mingle' with one another, those who can, probably will.
Sometimes it works, most of the times it doesn't. They might not be compatible, but that dosen't mean they can't fuck.
