Railroads & Locomotives
Soon after the advent of steam engine technology, designers in Komkolzgrad began to use steam power to control the lifts and cranes for mining operations. One designer thought it would be more efficient and versatile to attach steam engines directly to the mine carts instead.
Due to the enclosed space of the mines, this turned out to be a failure. The principle was sound, however, and the designers soon began to develop the idea further. In 1445, the first commercial railroad began running between Komkolzgrad and Haven.
