Yara
The River Goddess
The River Goddess of Yashin'ara, Yara is the Fallen spirit who came to Berron on the night of his camping by the river and coupled with him to form the evil Berix.
Divine Domains
Yara has power over the river that bears her name and is able to do miracles related to it.
Holy Books & Codes
Dauboon Shyara, or the Book of Yara, is a collection of the writings and poems written (allegedly) by Berron, her first priest-king.
Divine Symbols & Sigils
Yara is often symbolized as a woman holding a scroll and a fish, as she is seen as the provider of wisdom (symbolized by the scroll made from papyrus reeds along the river) and prosperity (symbolized by the fish). Sometimes she is also symbolized as a Berix biting her own tail.
Tenets of Faith
Yara demands obedience to the Daubun Shyara, predominantly ending in sacrificing a portion of one's goods to her. Radical followers have also been known to sacrifice their own children to her, which the scriptures do not suggest or decry.
Holidays
Yara's primary holiday is the Swelling Day, wherein heavy snowmelt fills the river, which swells its banks to deposit its nutrients on the lands about it. As the fields cannot be worked during this time, it is used as a holiday to celebrate and make sacrifices to Yara.
Divine Goals & Aspirations
Yara desires worship and sacrifices that she may grow stronger and be free of her tomb below the river.
