Moonsteel

Moonsteel is not steel, but silver worked with magic and bound with other materials to be a strong as steel and will not corrode like silver. In days of old, it was used as a metal to forge weapons and, to no great surprise, such weapons were powerful against certain kinds of Viliskari, and could even penetrate etherial objects and creatures. Now its non-corrosive quality and silver's natural ability to conduct electricity makes it the preferred material for electrical wiring, often being open-faced wired for a lovely, shiny aesthetic.

Properties

Material Characteristics

Moonsteel shines like silver and often glows a dull light under a full moon.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Moonsteel is hard like steel and often cool to the touch.

Origin & Source

Few know who devised the first Moonsteel, whether it was devised by one of the Kindred Forefathers, or if it was discovered later. Many believe that Illume herself taught the Belcanites its making upon seeing their dedication to facing the forces of darkness.

Life & Expiration

Moonsteel does not corrode or rust unless it is somehow otherwise compromised.

History & Usage

History

In the days of old, Moonsteel was often forged into blades for swords, axes, spears and arrowheads. Long was it known to be a bane to the servants of the Forsaken. Although many weapons of Moonsteel still exist today (since it takes a lot of work to destroy one), most Moonsteel is used in creating electrical circuits.

Everyday use

Moonsteel is most commonly used now to produce high-powered circuits, as silver (the primary element in Moonsteel) is highly conductive. Since it is shiny and non-corrosive, it is often used to create open-face circuits, adding beauty to the functional purpose.

Cultural Significance and Usage

Moonsteel has a lot of significance to the ancient Belcanite people who were first to record the story of Illume's fight with Dargon, and saw the moon as a symbol of purity and religious fervor.

Refinement

The silver (and other elements) need to be very carefully refined under highly exacting conditions. Once the final product is completed into refined ingots, it is relatively simple to work, though demands very high temperatures to forge into the final shape.

Manufacturing & Products

Moonsteel is forged into many useful items and mostly all are electronic in nature, such as wires and circuits and solder, etc.

Byproducts & Sideproducts

The primary biproduct of Truesteel manufacture is that of the various ores mined to get the silver, such as lead.

Reusability & Recycling

Because Moonsteel does not corrode or rust, it can be reused. Many a Moonsteel weapon of old has been melted down for wiring, etc.

Distribution

Trade & Market

Truesteel is an exotic material produced by a few specialized guilds across Nov Matar. Old Truesteel weapons are often incredibly valuable not least of all because they are often enchanted. Even regular Truesteel ingots or final products are expensive and not the property of the poor.

Storage

Truesteel doesn't have any storage requirements outside of storing them in a safe, protected place lest someone rob the owner of it.

Law & Regulation

Generally, there are no laws regulating Truesteel, though there are many protecting the rights and trade secrets of the guilds who deal in it.

Value
Truesteel is more valuable than gold.
Rarity
Truesteel is quite rare, though improved production methodologies is making it more common, although being that its main element is silver, its availability is based heavily on the availability of silver ore.
