Commonly Heard

Northmarsh has a vibrant culture, but with folk across the globe being ruled over by one being they often focus on similar topics.   Whilst affluent areas such as Xarith often speak of the glory of Bushena, other areas such as Hilford and the outlying countries have more mixed views. Though Bushena promised eternal wealth to all, since being a ruler she has been unable to follow through and those countries that were previously the poorest remain so.   There are a number of sayings and idioms that are repeated now that stem from the years of Lianeous' rule, not so common now but occasionally heard from older generations of the population and those who are competent and frequent readers.   Some phrases are still used in songs from bards across the world, they spend time finding obscure phrases to rhyme, much to the delight of crowds. Some common ones that are not in every day speech are listed below.

An' we'll be rich one day

Used in reference to the Era of Dismay, when 85% of each person's income was sent to the governing Lianeous.

Don't go looking for a copper

In the times of Lianeous' rule, it was a punishable crime to work in any way that was undeclared, meaning money earned would not be taxable. Those caught earning extra for their labour were imprisoned and, in the case of repeat offenders, sentenced to death.

Clean as her concious

Again referring to the previous ruler, a phrase used in sarcasm referring to someone who has done bad deeds.

Geographical Distribution
