Mimics

They are hiding in plain sight. The pottery left in an alley, book resting on a spice rack, or even a deer wandering the beach. These creatures are wistbeasts that do not look out of the ordinary at first glance, but inside they are very unnatural. The key signs for noticing a mimic is in context. In the above examples, the objects were in slightly wrong places. For most mimics, intelligence is a low ability. They react to simple stimuli only, and wait for quiet moments to strike.
They can be very many sizes, from a single pebble all the way to an entire house. They are often found in the remains of villages that were in the path of a wistorm.
The rarity is mainly from an ability for the average person to recognize when something isn't correct with what they are observing. Even a single extra eye on a raven marks it as a clear wistbeast, for example.
To adventurers, they are simply another reason to always keep on your toes.

Basic Information

Ecology and Habitats

They inhabit the more developed and civilized areas, drawn in by the amount of wistmettle left by the bodies of those lost to the storm. They lay in wait for prey to arrive, and strike fast and viciously

Biological Cycle

Over time their form stops looking so natural. Hair grows on a 'book' cover. A 'deer' gains tusks. Any number of developments will break the ruse.
