Meteor Metallurgy
A blade with a sharper edge than any metalworker could form, capable of cutting wisthread. It was made from a metal, very limited in supply, that fell from the sky.
Utility
It is the bane of Wistbeasts, the comprehensive cure to wicked mages, and even capable of working wistmettle, the anti-magic properties are wide and all-encompassing
Manufacturing
A reasonably warm forge and simple hand tools can work the iron into many forms, though specialized tools and forges are practically non-existent.

Access & Availability
The ability for it to cut wisthread was a very carefully guarded secret among its discoverers, who feared what may come if such a thing were in the wrong hands. Much of it was lost in the far north, and was used by locals to make better fishing hooks.
In the current age, the secret is out, and some major players have been in a scramble to understand the full effects of the invention.
Complexity
A rather simple process assuming one finds a meteor, any tool made will not be as hard as bronze, but the increased malleability, durability, and the x-factor of cutting wist, makes it an attractive material to work with.
Discovery
The real value of meteoric iron was not discovered until 1200, seeing only ritualistic use by shamans and later priests.
It was discovered by one of the first truly modern style mages, who had spent his time studying the effects of the material world on wist.
