Astral Symbols

One of the primary reasons that the inhabitants of Norn are so aware of the Gods that rule over the universe is due to their constant interference with life on Norn. Of the ways that the gods choose to interact with mortals, and in some ways what defines a God, is them having assigned themselves an Astral Symbol.

An Astral Symbol serves as a link between the mortal realm and the Astral Layer, allowing a mortal to commune with a god more reliably than simple prayer. By engraving an Astral Symbol into an object, the god becomes attuned to the experiences of that object from there onward. A god may also instantly transport to any location their Astral Symbol is engraved.

Astral Symbols on Mortals

An Astral Symbol may be drawn onto a mortal in order to allow the same effects as it would have on an object. Upon the Symbol's breaking, the connection will be severed from the god.

Through a technique known as Soulsearing, celestial energy may be used to "engrave" a permanent Astral Symbol onto a mortal's soul. Soulsearing is permanent, and will allow the god to be connected to you, even after death. Entrance into a Dominion is only possible if a soul has been seared with the god's appropriate symbol.

Alokt'n - a paint brush crossed in an X with a carpenter’s Paintbrush, within a perfect circle.
Dice - a d6 with the 6-pip side facing the viewer, with each pip being represented by a six sided star.
Rekoth - a single crow's feather resting behind a single, centered, closed eye.
Zyxas - a merchants scale, holding coins in the left, a crown in the right, circumscribed in a perfect circle.
