Vampires
While their cousins choose simpler paths, the Vampires craved power and domination above all. The aristocratic and imperious families of the Sanguine Principality all vie for power, increasing their bloodlines through careful pedigree and turning mortals into Vampire if they have the merit to warrant such an honor. They are hated by their neighbors, even the Heliopians, who they raid for slaves and treasure. Most live in family enclaves with their slaves and blood kin serving their family head while scheming to replace them. There are a few who do not take to this lifestyle. They often go to live with the Wampyr, who welcome their contrite cousins. Any that leaves their bloodline is considered a traitor however, and more likely to be killed by their kin than leave successfully. All the families owe allegiance to a Prince of Vampires, a title won by merit and duplicity. It is an elective position that most family heads covet.
