The Meza

The Meza are unique people, with sharp features and a grey-ish tint to their various skin tones. Their skin has thin, sharp scales resembling that of a shark much like their teeth which grows in two rows, equipped with glands that produce a paralytic venom. They once lived in clannish tribal groups led by warrior chiefs on their extensive home island of Mönto Plaar, before being united by King Mátrōn, fighting off Zian Klinga invaders, founding the Empire and annexing the Klinga empire. His mummified corpse still sits on the throne of the Empire, its eternal ruler, sometimes animated by the spirit of Mátrōn. Their power has expanded, and their military prowess is the backbone of the Akini Alliance forces. Meza culture is equal parts martial and scholarly, with a deep focus on administration, management, honor and prowess in battle. They primarily worship Mátrōn as the protector-god of their people, though some shark gods remain in their belief as that was their faith before Mátrōn’s apotheosis. The Meza tend to be individually calm, self-assured and taciturn, to the point of almost silence in a stranger's company.
