Teth'Null

The Teth are cousins to the Cthulithid, but have rejected the path of domination and eldritch worship for a path of Maddness in compassion, wisdom and coexistence with others. This began when the Cthulid larva called Ar’dyyet entered an orc monk named Teth. Teth was somehow immune to ceramorphisis which turns humanoids into Cthulid mind flayers, and began to teach Ar’dyyet a new path of consent, care and coexistence. Ar’dyyet spread this message psionically to other larva who converted to the philosophy. The Teth themselves are small, purple colored, slug like organisms that enter a sentient host, and rather than beginning ceramorphisis, connect with the host in a way that allows both consciousnesses to live in the same body together. The Teth believe this relationship should be consenting, and will only bond with willing hosts, whose memories are incorporated into the Teth, who carry them onward. The host gains psionic abilities and the memories of past hosts from the Teth, and the Teth gain a body, companionship and a life of new memories from the host. The Teth can speak through the host, and this is marked by a more monotone manner of speaking and a lower voice when the Teth is using the body. Teth tend to be calmer, more detached and more practical than host beings but over time and the collection of host memories, Teth become more humanoid in their emotions and mannerisms. As a society, Teth lead disparate lives with their hosts, serving both as agents of the Teth’Null in undercutting Cthulid influence in the world but also as anthropologists, collecting experiences memories and knowledge across many lifetimes as the Teth is able to live indefinitely other than death by violence. Teth will only congregate to make big decisions or to protect their breeding pools.   5e Kalashtar stats
