The Mist

A dense mist slowly rose from the ground more than an hundred years ago and never left.
Many weird creatures live in the mist. Most of them were never seen before on Nimbaar, and almost every one of them seem to be evil and dangerous. The most common belief amongst the people of Nimbaar is that those creatures are servants of The Ancient Dark, like the ones that The King of Days and The Queen of Nights defeated before the creation of the world.
The Mist also seems to interact with certains forms of magic, and it is believed that the souls of those who die inside it are lost forever. Resurrection magic and spells that try to contact the spirits of the deads or compel their bodies to talk do not work on people who died inside the Mist.
For these reasons, people rarely travel trough the Mist and try to keep both the Flying Ships and the Floating Cities above its level.

Geography

The Mist appears like an uniformly dense grey cloud, that rises from The Below up to an altitude greater than 3000m (about 2 miles).
It took it around 100 years to reach this level, and it keeps rising. Some of the sages of Nimbaar believe that one day the Mist will reach a level that will force the people to live inside it, because the air above will be too cold to live in.
It is not wet, like normal mist would be and it is not particularly colder than the surrounding air: the difference in temperature is the same that one would feel going from a sunny spot to a shadowy one.

The Mist has been divided in various parts by the different countries of Nimbaar, just like a normal sea would be.

Fauna & Flora

Many different beings consider the Mist their natural environment. Most of them look alien and unnatural, only vaguely resembling creatures that live outside the Mist. A common trait amongst them is the fact that even the ones without wings seem to be able to move inside the Mist, like if they could walk or swim inside it.
People tend to stay away from the Mist, so there aren't many information about those aberrations, and most of the inhabitants of Nimbaar generally refers to them as "Servant of the Dark", "Things in the Mist", or simply "Things".
There are no plants in the Mist, but there are various fungi, even some intelligent ones, and molds that stick to the bottom of low Floating Cities and Flying Ships that are docked for too long.
