Darkvision

A formerly subterranean race, Fomorians are able to see well in the dark. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Elemental Pilgrimage

The Fomorians have always felt a closeness to natural magics and how they shape the world and beings that live in it. Their right of passage for adulthood involves a Fomorian going out into the world and connecting to an element they feel attuned to. Once they have attuned to an element, it stays with them for the rest of their life- and they are able to use it on a day by day basis. They will get tattoos that reflect their element, and these tattoos themselves become a part of their attunement and seem to glow when exposed to the magics a Fomorian is attuned to. You are granted the use of one spell depending on the element you are attuned to, which uses your Wisdom modifier for your spellcasting modifier, regardless of class. This spell does not require any material components specified by the spell, and it can be used once per day and will be restored upon a successful long rest.
Element Description Spell Additional Effect Effect
Aether Some Fomorians find themselves attracted to and attuned to the purest form of magic- Aether. When attuned to Aether, a Fomorian seems to gently radiate a purple glow from their body. Their eyes may become purely one color and glow brightly. Their tattoos will often be golds and purple, with intricate details. Some may even opt for tattoos that are colored like the rainbow to match the diverse nature of magic. Detect Magic Aura Vision You are able to see magic in all of its forms as if it was physical. Leylines and magic energies radiating from lifeforms- known as auras- appear as a colored mist to you. These auras are visible even if your vision is otherwise obscured by solid darkness.
Air A Fomorian who has attuned to the element of air seems to always move smoothly, as if their ever gesture was a dance on the breeze. Their hair seems to magically flow in a nonexistent breeze, and the air around them always seems to flow around them, even deep within a building or underground. An air attuned Fomorian often has blue, light grey, or white colored tattoos that swirl on their body. Gust Gentle Descent Once per day, you are able to fall slowly as if you were under the effects of Featherfall.
Anima Anima is the cousin to animals and is the stuff of souls. Fomorians who have found attunement to Anima find themselves drawn to lifeforms. Their skin seems to distort and faintly glow at random intervals, as if their very soul was visible through their physical form. An Anima attuned Fomorian usually has pastel or grey-scale colored tattoos that are wispy and focused around vital areas on their body, such as the mouth or around their heart. Spare the Dying Speak to the Dead You are able to communicate with Elementals and the souls of the dead
Blight Slime and ooze, disease and rot. Some Fomorians find themselves attuned to the maladies in the world and the magic that follows it. Their skin may become sickly looking or slime-like, and their body odor may become foul or sickly sweet. A blight attuned Fomorian will often have curved lines and complex shapes for their tattoos, which come in browns, greens, and yellows. Sapping Sting Pestilence Seeker You are able to detect ailments of lifeforms at a glance with little guesswork. You gain advantage on rolls that glean information about disease, decay, or famine.
Earth The very land on which you walk is part of why you are alive. Some Fomorians feel attuned to the life and activity, yet stable nature of the earth they live on. They may find themselves covered in dust clouds, or have skin and horns that become chiselled or cracked like stone. Some may even have eyes that resemble gemstones, shimmering in the light. Their tattoos often depict nature in some way, and come in greens, browns, reds, yellows, and sometimes rainbows to represent gemstones and flowers. Mold Earth Stability You seem unmovable, like a boulder. You gain advantage on rolls that would knock you prone.
Fire A fire burns withing some Fomorians once they attune to it. Their skin feels hot to the touch, and it's as if they radiate heat like a campfire. Some may also have hair that seems to burn or smoke like a flame, and it's as if their eyes glow like embers. Their tattoos are often curved and sharp, like fire and smoke, and come in reds, oranges, yellows, dark greys, and black. Fire Bolt Heat Resistance Heat and flames actively avoid harming you. You are resistant to fire damage.
Hoar When a Fomorian attunes to the cold, it is as if winter follows them. Hoarfrost collects on their skin, hair, and clothes. Their skin feels ice cold to the touch, and often their breath is visible as if they were breathing on a cold day. Their tattoos will often mimic the various shapes and forms ice takes, with sharp edges and fluid lines. The tattoos will often be light blues, whites, and light greys and browns. Ray of Frost Cold Resistance The cold does not seem to bother you, and frostbite seems like a myth to you. You are resistance to cold damage.
Light Despite their race's cavernous history, some Fomorians find light from the sun and other sources appealing. One who has attuned to light may find their eyes and mouth emit a faint to blinding glow of white light. Others find that their skin glitters and sparkles gently in the light. Tattoos of light attuned Fomorians will often depict radiating lines and straight lines, with yellows, golds, and white being used frequently for colors. Light Blindness resistance As if guided by the light in the world, you are difficult to blind. You get advantage on rolls to resist effects that would blind you.
Plasma There is something alluring about the dangerous and yet lively nature of electricity and the various forms it takes. And some Fomorians find themselves attracted to plasma because of this, attuning themselves to an unstable yet exciting element. Static electricity easily forms on their clothes and in their hair, and electricity cackles, sparks, and leaps occasionally across their body. Lightning Lure Lightning Resistance Static shocks give you no pain, and you feel less scared of lightning as you know it is your friend. You receive halved damage from electrical currents and spells.
Shadow Many Fomorians- especially the oldest- are familiar with the dark in the world around them. This leads to many individuals finding it easy to attune to the shadows. Their skin becomes silken, and it's as if every shadow on their body seems darker. There is often an eerie silence around these Fomorians. And sometimes their shadow seems to move as if it was alive and chained to their form. Their tattoos are fluid and take up large chunks of their bodies, favoring greys, blacks, dark blues and dark purples for color. Darkness Perfect Darkvision You are able to see perfectly in darkness as if it was the outside world with no colors or details lost.
Water In the cavernous life ancient Fomorians once had, they were aquatic as well and lived along and in underground water systems. Some Fomorians feel the calling of their ancestors, and become attuned to the element of water. Their skin and sometimes hair is always damp, and some individuals may find themselves followed by a mist or fog. Their tattoos will often depict rain, bodies of water, or fluid, swirling lines, often with greys, whites, blues, and turquoise. Shape Water Swift Swimmer Breathing under water is no problem for you, and swimming is a breeze. You have a swim speed of 40 feet, and you do not have to come up for air.
