Threadbearer Test

Every six months the clans of Sanctum Hollow hold a Threadbarer Test. Untested 7-year-old children come to reveal "the nature of their thread" as determined by the heavens. As they meditate with a special loom invested with spiritual power by a clan elder, they weave to illuminate a special silver thread that will glow in response to their affinity.   If the thread thickens as it glows, they are Sizer. If it flees from their hand and pulls taut, they are a Pirn. If it rises, they are a Reed. If it sticks in place and vibrates, they are a Fabricator. If it does nothing, they are a Drab, dull and empty, shamed by the heavens. They have failed the test and will take it again at the next opportunity.
