Valem
An enormous city with layers reaching up to a keep on the top of a single mountain in the center, mt. Valem. The very outer layer around the entrances, as well as the outside, is riddled with farms and huts, all made of worn and torn wood. Some buildings abandoned and destroyed. One or two buildings are split perfectly, like a sword the size of a giant cleanly cut the building at an angle, with the wood that is left singed on the surface. As you travel farther in, the city begins to take shape. The roads begin to turn to stone as so do the buildings, now a mixture of stone and wood, the buildings begin to become more dense, as do the people. After a while the density stops, and the buildings become nicer, with fine wood and cloth being used in the mostly stone buildings, as well as the people becoming less dense. At this point the buildings became tiered, most of them very nice houses built into the side of the mountain. Once the paths began to rise so much it was stairs, the buildings began to disappear and the path spiraled around the mountain, reaching a giant keep at the top with large towers and massive walls. A single massive tower, that seems to disobey the very laws of structural integrity and physics, hangs off the side of the keep.
Demographics
mostly human, with the outskirts being prominently humanoid
Government
The king rules over the lands, with his cabinet of officials as his aid, but the true rulers of Valem are the Scholars in the main Ministry of Magic, in which its headquarters is a tower built off the main keep at the top of the central mountain
Defences
the city's defenses begin at the farms, in which watchtowers dot the landscape, looking out for demon-class monsters. The Great Wall stands between anything and the main city, in which it is littered with ballistas and catapults.
Infrastructure
the outskirts of the city are all farmland, with giant walls separating the farms from the slums in the very outer edge of the city. these slums are crawling with lowlife and humanoids, as farther into the city the buildings become more rigid, and are built with stone instead of wood. as well as the populous become mostly human, with some elves and half-elves living among them.
