Mysterious Letter

This coded letter is located inside a secret hatch in Dr. Sylphid Bateaux's desk at her Verity Island laboratory. Dr. Bateaux has had no known lab partners, so the identity of the sender, H, remains a mystery to all but the recipient herself. It is written on fine stationery with a personalized letterhead: a spider with an eye on its abdomen, in a web, surrounded by the words Knowledge Above All.

Mysterious Letter

Dear Dr. Bateaux,
I greatly appreciate your efforts to aid in my latest research. Between the serum that you concocted and my own manipulation of beta brainwaves, I can confidently report that the experiment has exceeded expectations, with our subject reaching our minimum 80% performance threshold 64.8% of the time after merely one month of tutelage. I am not yet certain how significant of a factor the subjects' natural talent and affinity has been, but her growth does seem promising, as does her apparent willingness to proceed with testing.
If I might be more plain with you, I've had my doubts as to the efficiency of such an endeavor, to say nothing about the ethics of it. I'm sure you'll mock me eternally for this, but I will admit to having developed a bit of a soft spot for the subject in my care. While I understand the necessity of "crafting the ideal Weaver," as you've so aptly put it, I cannot help but wonder if our actions may come back to haunt the guild in more tangible ways than my actions are already haunting me. Your perseverance in these times make me all the more enthralled and terrified by your skill.
