Rhodey's Singing Birds
Rhodey Ashcroft is extremely fond of creating automatons and various other mechanical creations. One pride and joy of hers is the flock of little songbirds that whir around her workshop and sing in tones resembling something like tiny music boxes.
Mechanics & Inner Workings
The birds are made of brass gears and plating. They have tiny contraptions resembling music boxes embedded in their chests, which require winding every once in a while. The birds chirp out simple, repetitive tunes of Rhodey's own composition.
History
Rhodey has been making tiny mechanical creatures for years. Her technique was finally perfected with the birds. Unlike her other creations, they can fly and seem to react to their immediate environments, even though they lack full consciousness.
Significance
Rhodey doesn't like working in silence, but she doesn't particularly enjoy working in the presence of other sentient beings, either. The singing birds are the solution to Rhodey's dilemma. They provide pleasant background noise for her while she works without the annoyance that sentient people create when they try to talk to her while she's working.
