Ero-Kun Ethnicity in Neria | World Anvil

Ero-Kun (/eɾo-kuɲ/)

Ero-Kun is the name adopted by the descendents of Avvar-Kunrud settlers and Jade refugees residing in Tal.

Culture

Major language groups and dialects

Ero-Kun language is heavily influenced by its Avvar-Kunrud and Jade counterparts and considered to be a dialect of Avvar. The language is recognisable by Avvar-Kunrud peoples and largely understandable with slow speech, but pronunciations and borrowed letters from Jade have caused a heavy accent and slang or loan words that make communication difficult with outside cultures.

Culture and cultural heritage

Given the harsh conditions the people have arisen within, Ero-Kun culture places a heavy significance on survival and many of their rituals and beliefs surround that need. Children born are protected fiercely and considered sacred to their continued legacy, and taught the skills of fishing, skinning and carving animals as soon as they are able to hold a knife safely.   Within the Kun it is necessary for every person within a settlement to carry their weight to provide for or protect the community. Elderly members of the community are tasked with passing on their knowledge, and the disabled are accomodated on an individual basis. On occasion a disabled member will be transported to other, more habitable countries but this is only performed when they are unlikely to survive even with the aid of the entire community. Magi are trained vigorously and work the hardest as they have the largest capabilities, usually working on hunting or construction.

Foods & Cuisine

Ero-Kun cooking, known as Majru, is a meat-based cuisine with a focus on stews or leafy broths, heavily seasoned with foraged spices.
