Ships and Stations

Ships and stations can greatly vary in sizes, with some having a maximum crew capacity of fifty, and others having a maximum of the bare minimum, seven crew members. Usually there isn’t any maximum higher than fifty on a ship or station, but a planet settlement can increase the maximum to seventy five or more.

Capacities

Average capacities for different ships and stations are –
  • Agriculture Ships – minimum seven, maximum thirty five
  • Archeology Expedition Ships – minimum twenty, maximum forty
  • Astronaut Training Ships – minimum thirty, maximum fifty
  • Engineering Ships – minimum seven, maximum thirty five
  • Exploration Expedition Ships – minimum ten, maximum thirty
  • Meteorology Ships – minimum ten, maximum twenty
  • Travelling Hospitals – minimum twenty, maximum fifty five
  • Zoological Ships – minimum ten, maximum thirty five
  • Experimentation Ships – minimum seven, maximum fifty
  • Specialty Ships – minimum seven, maximum fifty
Again, this is just the averages for a few of the types of ships in orbit.

Notes

  • Zoological and Agricultural ships tend to stay on the smaller side of crew size, seeing as they have more specimens that take up room and supplies in the ships (i.e. plants, animals, dangerous bacteria, etc.).
  • Travelling hospital ships are the most likely to have large amounts of people on board, be it crew or patients, and are the most likely to get away with being over capacity.
  • Specialty ships can range from prison ships to private expeditions, which explains the major fluctuations between capacities.
  • Likewise, experimentation ships can range from private experimentation ships to government commissioned ships, explain the major fluctuation between capacities.

Well-known Ships and Stations

Some of the most well-known active ships include –
  • The ABP Eden, the largest functioning agricultural and botanical preserve ship, maximum crew capacity fifty. Usually hosts up to twenty of the best botanists in the world. ABP stands for “agriculture [and] botanical preserve”
  • The EWS Katar, the most productive experimental weapons engineering ship, maximum crew capacity thirty three. Usually hosts up to fifteen of the best mechanical and weapons engineers. EWS stands for “experimental weapons ship”
  • The PS Mitochondria, the largest functioning solar power collection space station in action, maximum crew capacity twenty one. Usually hosts up to seven of the best sun specialists in the world. PS stands for “power station”
  • The TS-A Windwalker, the most active astronaut training ship in orbit, maximum crew capacity forty nine. TS-A stands for “training station – astronaut”
