Qualifications
Besides for a high-school diploma or a GED, no higher education is required to be accepted into training.
The only real qualifications to be accepted into training is passing a physical assessment test and having no major problems in your medical history.
After undergoing a year of training on Earth and a three-month stint on a training station, the trainee receives their official certification and becomes a fully-fledged astronaut.
Career Progression
After getting certified, you can get contracted to any active ship or station. The company you contract with can determine how much influence or how far you advance in this career, as your sub-career has another influence to how far you progress.

Workplace
Depending on the sub-career, astronauts can be on many different kinds of spaceships or stations. Any employee on a spaceship or space station has to be an astronaut.
