Qalik

Qalik is a small settlement on the northern shore of Lake Igalaujait. If seen from above the village is laid out like a bullseye with a tower in the centre. The tower can be seen from miles away due to the large tower in the centre of the village that is always manned by one member of each of the northern races, it is built with trees hauled north from the forests to the south. It serves as an advance warning system, and as a symbol of peace and cooperation between the Iglulitut and Netsilijut. At the bottom of the tower are three large buildings forming a loose triangle around the base of the tower. One of the buildings is the great hall where large ceremonies and feasts happen, as well as where the council meets. On either side of the great hall are the travelling houses. The houses have room for fifty people and double as taverns. One is run by the Iglulitut Kenku and the other by the Netsilijut Barri. These houses are used for travellers as well as the members of either race that live in the village. In the second ring, there are trade shops; bronze smiths, tanners, oil makers, trade vendors, bowyers, fletchers. In the third and outer ring, there are individual homes for permanent residents who don't like or don't want to live in the communal dwellings in the centre of the village.

Government

A small council made up of two voting members. Council meetings are had on an as needed basis. Should the two voting members not agree the issue is put up for debate and referendum in the great hall.

History

The village was first founded when the North realized it could trade with the south. Since trade is not required, but a pleasant benefit there has been no real need or desire to build up a formal trading hub and network.

Architecture

The buildings are made from wood imported from the south and hides provided by the hunts of The North
